
Catholics represent 6% of population in Sri Lanka. Religion was introduced by Portuguese in XVI century, they live mostly on the west and south coast. Population is also mainly fishermen or school teachers. Tradition is very strong and fervor and piety are a great experience to share at the early morning ceremony in Our local church Lady of Matara. This church located on beach road, went through the Tsunami in 2004 (you can see the height of water inside the church on a picture). Holy Mary statue disappeared into the waves and was found few days later, untouched, in the convent garden 200 meters further… It took several years to rebuild the church which now face proudly to the ocean again. @Howdy did a little pray for U
