John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park: wonderful adventure for everybody! First undersea park in the US. Mangrove swamps, tropical hammrocks, coral reefs, marine life, canoeing, kayaking, snorkeling, picnicking, swimming, fishing, scuba diving… But get there early if you want to Go there by car. They don’t let many cars in there… ☀️
On our way to the JOCRSP…
Find a good spot to relax a bit before you go out to the Reef with a boat. Go over the bridge and go to your left. There is the kayak landing, a very nice place that is not that crowded.

Getting ready for a 4,5h snorkel trip with the snorkel express. Register for this tour online in advance and get there 2h before your departure to check-in. Rent googles, snorkel and flippers at the booth next to the pier and you’re good to go to have some fun! If you’re on the boat with the navy Captain, you’ll have a fantastic time. He’s awesome and knows how to entertain the crowd.
it takes 40min to get to the Coral Reef. So lets just enjoy the boat ride…
Nice weather. Guess we don’t need life jackets today.
We made it to the John Pennekemp Coral Reef Park. It’s a 40 minute boat ride along the coast up north. Surrounded by a sandbank, small rocks and probably some boats parked to let people snorkel.
Last check before jumping into the water.
Snorkeling Spot 1. Just seconds after going in the water you see the wonderful Coral Reef with all its colors, animals and plants.
Underwater is cool, but still need to check what’s above in between. Nothing. Nice ☀️

Lets get some fresh air and come up for a few minutes.
Snorkeling trip goes on: Next stop is the Christ of Abyss Statue located near the Dry Rocks, 7.6m under water.
One of the first ones back in the water. But kind of lost where to find the statue. so lets take a pic of our boat first and wait for the others.
